Carlos Rodon and the New York Yankees claimed their first series win post the All-Star break after defeating division rivals Boston Red Sox on Sunday. Yankees starter Rodon was one of the standout performers on the night.

Rodon, who didn't have the best time from the mound in his last outing against the Red Sox last month, displayed much better discipline with his changeups at Fenway Park in the series finale.

The Yankees starter went 6.1 innings from the mound. Despite conceding back-to-back homers in the fourth inning, he restricted the hosts to two runs while striking out seven hitters.

Ashley Rodon was pleased with her husband's performance in the rubber game and reacted to the outing by sharing an Instagram story with a 'clapping' emoji.

Carlos Rodon and Ashley got married in 2018 in Costa Rica, and the couple share three children - one daughter and two sons - together.

The Yankees ace had conceded five runs in his previous game against the Red Sox in June, but Sunday's outing meant that Rodon has allowed three or fewer runs in 17 of his 22 starts in the 2024 season.

Carlos Rodon ends July on a high after a tough start to the month

Despite a rough start to July, where Rodon allowed nine runs in his first three starts, the former White Sox pitcher has started to get back into his rhythm from the mound in his last two games.

While the two-time All-Star looked back into his groove on Sunday, he acknowledged the importance of the series victory for the team.

“We need to get on a roll here,” Rodón said. “This was a big series win against the Red Sox, who are a very good team despite where they are in the standings. They’re not far off from us. … It’s always tough to play here in Fenway.”

Yankees manager Aaron Boone appreciated Carlos Rodon's efforts, especially with the team short on arms in the bullpen for the series finale.

“To get us an out into the seventh there, we needed that,” Boone said. “I think both sides were very short in the ‘pen tonight, and for him to go out tonight in this place -- it was just a big performance, following up a strong one his last time, too.”

The Yankees travel to the Citizens Bank Park to open a two-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday, the team with the best record in MLB this season.
