CC Sabathia has been inducted as one of the newest members of the National Baseball Hall of Fame, with a 86.8% vote on his the first time of asking. Across 19 MLB seasons, he starred for the Cleveland Indians, Milwaukee Brewers and the New York Yankees.
In an Instagram post, former Yankee captain Derek Jeter posted a series of photos congratulating CC Sabathia. The legendary shortstop, who's alsoi a member of the Hall, posted pictures of him and Sabathia during their six seasons together at the Bronx, prompting a heartwarming reply from the pitcher.
"Congrats to my brother CC for his election to the MLB HOF. One of the best to ever do it," said Jeter on Instagram.
"I love you bro. It's an honor to join you in Cooperstown and share a legacy together. Forever HOF," Sabathia replied.
Yankee legend and team Hall of Famer Darryl Strawberry also extended his heartfelt congratulations to Sabathia.
"Congratulations CC. Well deserved Bro," Strawberry posted.
The lefty fireballer shares the class with Ichiro Suzuki, Dave Parker, Dick Allen, and fellow lefty hurler Bobby Wagner. Interestingly, Sabathia and Wagner are on;y the 19th and 20th left-handed pitchers among the 86 hurlers in the Hall.
CC Sabathia's MLB career
Carsten Charles "CC" Sabathia Jr. was selected as the 20th overall pick in the 1998 MLB Draft by the Cleveland Indians. He made his big league debut on April 8, 2001, for the club.
One of the fieriest competitors to have stepped foot on the mound, the lefty amassed a collection of record and accolades befitting a Hall of Famer. In his almost two decade career, Sabathia tallied a 251-161 record and 3,093 strikeouts, becoming the third lefty to record at least 250 wins and 3,000 strikeouts
After a brief stint in Milwaukee, CC Sabathia transferred to the Bronx, where, in his first year, he helped the New York Yankees win their most recent title in the 2009 edition of the World Series.
Overall, Sabathia amassed a plethora of accolades, including six All-Star selections, the 2007 Cy Young Award, two-time MLB wins leader honors, the 2009 ALCS MVP and a Cleveland Guardians Hall of Famer. He's now a Baseball Hall of Famer.
