Mallory Swanson proved monumental for the USWNT in the 2024 Paris Olympics, including scoring the gold medal-winning goal. Dansby Swanson's wife, as a result, got a lot of praise from other MLB wives and girlfriends. They showed their support on Instagram after Swanson and the USA made history.
Freddie Freeman's wife, Chelsea, who knew Swanson from when Freeman and Swanson were on the Atlanta Braves, gave her friend a lengthy shoutout on her story. Cody Bellinger's partner gave a nod, too.
Much of the MLB world was watching, and so many partners of MLB stars gave credit to Swanson for delivering their country the gold medal in historic fashion. Swanson was relentless throughout the tournament, and it paid off with a huge win.
Mallory Swanson and the USWNT won gold after 12 years
The United States Women's National Team fell short in the 2023 FIFA World Cup. They had a disastrous run that ultimately fell by the thinnest of margins in the Round of 16. It was an early exit for a world power. They responded by hiring Emma Hayes, and she got the team, Mallory Swanson included, ready for the Olympics.
They proved to be up for the task as they went unbeaten in the group stage. They began their run by defeating Zambia 3-0. They continued by beating Germany 4-1 and Australia 2-1.
They outlasted Japan 1-0 in the quarterfinal before turning to Germany in the semifinal, whom they beat 1-0. In the gold medal game, a second-half goal from Swanson proved the difference-maker and won the gold medal in Paris 2024.
Swanson said via Fox News:
"We've grown so much. And that's really cool to me seeing that. We've grown on and off the field. And you keep probably hearing it — we're playing with joy. We're having so much fun and I'm just so happy."
It was the USA Women's first gold medal in 12 years.
