Chicago White Sox fans react to Billy Hamilton's excitement about rejoining team: "Will be heartbroken if he doesn't make the Opening Day roster"

The Chicago White Sox brought back veteran outfielder Billy Hamilton on a minor league deal with an invite to Spring Training. Hamilton was with the White Sox in 2021 when they won the American League Central. He was a big contributor to the team that season.

He would only spend that season with the team. Last season, he split his time between the Miami Marlins and Minnesota Twins. However, the White Sox must have left a positive impression on him, because he was more than excited to return to Chicago.

Hamilton was a huge "glue guy" for the team in 2021. He was always smiling, joking around with teammates, and picking up his teammates whether they made a heck of a play or just committed an error. Every baseball team needs players like this.

It's no secret that the team could have used that energy last season. It felt like the entire entire team was playing flat all year long in 2022.

"I will be heartbroken if he doesn't make the Opening Day roster," one fan tweeted.
"Billy is that dude. Tough not to root for the guy," another fan explained.

Chicago White Sox fans are calling for the team to keep Hamilton and put him on the Opening Day roster. He'd be a great fourth outfielder for a team that could be looked at as a late-inning defensive replacement. His speed is also still there. He can't be counted out as a designated runner off the bench late in games, either.

Hamilton made a huge impression on White Sox fans. Not many players get this kind of reception while only playing in 79 games for the team.

The Chicago White Sox desperately need a bounce-back season

Not many teams had a more disappointing season than the Chicago White Sox in 2022. They were the clear favorites to win the division, but ended up finishing behind the Cleveland Guardians and three games ahead of the Minnesota Twins.

We may see a sharper and more disciplined team this year as new manager Pedro Grifol has taken over for the retired Tony La Russa. There were times where neither the players nor coaching staff seemed to know what was going on under TLR.

All eyes will be on this team and how they perform this year. Another bad year could be disastrous for this organization.
