Jose Abreu placed much of the blame on the lack of a good culture on the team, citing the fact that it didn't feel like a family. It doesn't matter how talented a team is, if they are not united they won't get very far, as many teams throughout history have discovered.

The systemic issues that the team was facing clearly went beyond players not having fun in the locker room. The team was well built and should have battled for a playoff spot, but came up well short. By joining the Astros in free agency, Abreu has set himself up nicely to challenge for a ring. They are a fantastically run organization and are perrenial contenders for the World Series championship.

Both sides benefitted greatly from Abreu signing with the Astros. As the defending champions, they will have extremely high expectations on them, which Jose Abreu could help them reach.
