Times have been tough for the Cincinnati Reds lately. At the end of the season last year, they found themselves 31 games behind the St. Louis Cardinals. They finished with a 62-100 record, their worst since 2003.

Things have looked pretty low in Cincinnati for some time now. It has been 10,000 days since their last playoff series victory, which is the second longest in major league sports.

They haven't won a playoff series since 1995. That's 27 years. Some fans have never seen them win a postseason series ever.

It's not like the Cincinnati Reds play in a grueling division either. While the St. Louis Cardinals are always tough, they're usually the only team you can count on coming out of the National League Central.

"And it ain't changing this year," one fan tweeted.
"Road to 20,000 already underway," said another fan.

Luckily, the Reds have some die-hard fans. Not many fans stick by their teams during times like these.

The team has failed to put enough talent on the field. They've had Joey Votto for the entirety of his career, but that's about it. Some fans think the team has wasted Joey Votto's career. The 2023 season will be Votto's 17th year in Cincinnati.

Question marks surround the Cincinnati Reds

The Cincinnati Reds have a ton of questions to answer as they prepare for the new season. What will their roster look like? Will Joey Votto be healthy in 2023?

One player fans should keep an eye on this season is Elly De La Cruz. He's currently the team's number-one prospect and is ranked the number-four prospect according to The Athletic. The front office is excited about the player he can grow into, but he may start the year in the minors.

Another player who is a bit under the radar is Spencer Steer. Steer got called up in September last season but didn't fare too well. He admitted that he tried to do too much during his short time in the majors. With those first-game jitters out of the way, he could grow into a very capable third-baseman.

Lastly, the team moves as Joey Votto does. He ended his season early and underwent shoulder surgery. He's still working his way back from rehab and it will be interesting to see if he is ready to go by Opening Day.
