The New York Yankees ended their series losing streak with a 2-1 series win over division rivals Baltimore Orioles on Sunday. However, an Orioles fan didn't mince words, aiming jibes at the Bronx Bombers and their players.
On the "Talkin' Yanks" podcast discussing "How Can The Yankees Get Back on Track?" an Orioles fan called in to mock the Bronx Bombers. The fan highlighted the Yankees' struggles since Orioles star Gunnar Henderson was hit by a pitch in the series at Yankee Stadium earlier this season.
He even fired shots at Yankees captain Aaron Judge, while also claiming Juan Soto would leave after this season.
"You guys sting. Even since you hit Gunnar Henderson you guys have sucked. You guys are a bunch of crybabies, worthless losers. Do a rebuild. Soto ain't coming back, Judge stinks, what an overpay. Horrible team, scrap it, rebuild, You guys are competing for nothing."
Renowned Yankees fan Joseph Solano (goes by his social media handle JoezMcfly), who was co-hosting the podcast, shut down the Orioles fan after his jibes. He asked the fan to come up with "facts:"
"For you to say Judge is an overpay and then you look at his stats and then he's #1 in everything. I've no problem in discussing with fans, going back and forth and taking trash, but make it factual bro, come with the facts!
"You guys are still struggling, kinda like us, so let's not act like you guys are above and beyond, ok? Let's relax."
Yankees make up ground on Orioles after series win
The Orioles took advantage of their rivals Yankees' struggles in June and overtook them atop the AL East. However, the Yankees have made up ground on the defending AL East winners.
The Bronx Bombers are only one game behind their rivals after payback in their three-game series before the All-Star break. The series witnessed a controversial start as Friday's series opener saw benches clear at Camden Yards after Clay Holmes had hit Heston Kjerstad in the head.
The Yankees claimed the series after consecutive wins but failed to clean sweep the Orioles after a poor defensive show in the series finale on Sunday. The Yankees will start a four-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday, July 19.
