Orioles star Corbin Burnes could be on his way out of Baltimore after just one season. The four-time All-Star joined the O's on a one-year deal from the Milwaukee Brewers during the offseason.

Burnes has had an exceptional season for his new team. Apart from the tough time he faced in August, he has been one of baseball's best pitchers this season. He has started 27 games, with a 12-7 record, a 3.23 ERA, 150 strikeouts and a 1.13 WHIP, and has 150 strikeouts.

"I think the Mets are certainly going to be in play for Corbin Burnes," baseball insider Jon Heyman said on Thursday. "Let's keep in mind that (Luis) Severino is a free agent, (Jose) Quintana is a free agent, (Sean) Manaea will also be a free agent as he has that opt-out for $13.5 million. So, the Mets have three prime free agents, and Burnes is going to be a top free-agent pitcher."

Corbin Burnes reflects on what he wants from free agency

Corbin Burnes is approaching the end of his one-year contract with the Baltimore Orioles. The client of superagent Scott Boras is expected to become a free agent.

"I am going to have to do a lot of research this offseason of farm systems, young guys coming up, groups of core guys that are on a team,” Burnes said. “Where does it look like teams are going to be competitive? Where are teams just looking to spend some money to make the fan base happy? Whatever it might be.
"But you never know what’s going to happen each year in baseball. So, you just want to provide yourself the best chance to win, hopefully for your entire tenure, hopefully for most of your tenure, whatever it is."

According to reports, Burnes is expecting a $200 million contract next season when he hits the open market, and he will surely have a lot of teams interested in him at that price if not more.
