Corbin Burnes is arguably the top name remaining in free agency and has drawn plenty of interest across the league. The former Cy Young Award winner is coming off a dominant season with the Baltimore Orioles and can be a game-changing talent for whatever club he signs with.

The 30-year-old starting pitcher is expected to sign a massive contract this offseason and has been linked to several clubs. Even though every club in the majors would love to have him on the roster, MLB insider Jeff Passan shared three teams that stand out as likely landing spots for Corbin Burnes.

According to Passan, the Toronto Blue Jays, San Francisco Giants and the Orioles are considered the most likely landing spots for Burnes. This does not guarantee that he will sign with one of these three teams, as clubs such as the Boston Red Sox have also been viewed as a potential destination earlier this offseason.

If Burnes were to agree to a contract with the Blue Jays, Giants or the Orioles, it could be massive for the club. The Giants have already inked Willy Adames to a lucrative deal, so adding one of the best pitchers in baseball would be huge.

When it comes to Toronto, the club has a few proven veterans on their roster such as Kevin Gausman and Jose Berrios, however, the rotation underperformed in 2024. If signed, Burnes would become the team's ace heading into 2025.

A bidding war could benefit Corbin Burnes to secure a lucrative deal

Corbin Burnes is expected to sign a deal worth $200 million or more this offseason. Even though he is one of the best pitchers in baseball, given his age, the years attached to the deal could be the biggest question mark.

All that being said, Burnes has the talent to help carry a contender over the hump, so the bidding war may only increase the longer he remains a free agent.

Burnes was elite in 2024, finishing fifth in AL Cy Young voting. Last season for the Orioles, he posted an excellent 15-9 record with a 2.92 ERA and 181 strikeouts over 194.1 innings. He also earned his fourth consecutive All-Star selection in the process.
