Corbin Burnes Hot Stove Rumors: MLB analysts predict which teams most needs the former Cy Young winner

Corbin Burnes remains the top free-agent pitcher on the market. The former Cy Young winner's market has not heated up much despite some other huge deals getting done, but there should still be plenty of suitors for the pitcher.

Out of all the teams that could sign him, a few MLB analysts still believe the Baltimore Orioles, the team he spent 2024 with, make the most sense. He's a fit and they need him.

"Let's go ahead and get the obvious answer out of the way: I'll say the Orioles," CBS Sports' RJ Anderson said. "It's not just that Burnes would provide a huge boost to the Orioles rotation (again), it's also that he would symbolize that change has indeed come to Baltimore.

"New owner David Rubenstein investing in Burnes would demonstrate that he's willing to spend what it takes to maximize the Orioles' World Series chances -- something that, to be frank, the previous owners were clearly unwilling to do."

Matt Snyder echoed that take, saying that the time for building the future is over. Instead, it's time to start focusing on the present, and that begins with signing Burnes.

Mike Axisa of CBS Sports said the Atlanta Braves make sense:

"They lost Max Fried and could lose Charlie Morton, and I'm not sure you can count on Chris Sale and Reynaldo López doing that again."

Axisa doesn't think the rotation is in shambles, but that Burnes would cement it as a strength rather than a bit of a question mark. He doesn't necessarily expect Burnes to sign there, but he believes the need is greater there than in Baltimore.

The odds also suggest that the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, San Francisco Giants, New York Mets and Chicago Cubs could enter the fray as well.
