Chicago Cubs star Dansby Swanson and his wife, United States women's national soccer team star Mallory Swanson (née Push), are baseball's modern-day power couple. Dansby and Mallory are premier athletes who are currently at the top of their respective sports.
In an Instagram story posted on Tuesday, Mallory highlighted Dansby's nomination for the Gold Glove this year. The 30-year-old shortstop has previously won two Gold Glove Awards in 2022 and 2023.
Dansby Swanson claimed his first Gold Glove in his last year with the Atlanta Braves two years ago. He continued his streak as he won the same award in his first year with the Chicago Cubs last season. In addition, Swanson also won the Fielding Bible Award in 2023.
As for Mallory, she has been on a roll. The soccer striker scored the winning goal in the 2024 Paris Olympic soccer final against Brazil in what was her 100th USWNT appearance. She was also nominated for the Ballon d'Or this year, the most prestigious individual award in the world of soccer.
Dansby Swanson heaps praise on wife Mallory
After the United States women's national soccer team's success in the 2024 Paris Olympics, Dansby Swanson heaped praise on his wife Mallory, who scored the medal-deciding goal in the final against one of the world's soccer powerhouses, Brazil.
"...You are truly a gift from above, and you shine with that every day. I’m speechless. And now you’re a gold medal, Olympic champion, and 100 caps in the same day. And that can never be taken from you. I love you forever," Dansby Swanson wrte about wife Mallory on Instagram
The Chicago Cubs shortstop was proud of his wife who stars for the Chicago Red Stars in the National Women's Soccer League for claiming the gold in the Paris Olympics. It was the United States' first gold medal in soccer since 2012.
Much like in the women's World Cup, the USWNT is also the top dog when it comes to Olympic soccer. In eight iterations of the event since the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, the USWNT has yet to finish outside of the podium. Its medal tally includes five gold medal finishes, one silver medal and a bronze medal finish.
