LA Dodgers fans were left heartbroken after watching their team blow a large lead in their 6-5 to the San Diego Padres in extra innings at Petco Park on Monday. The Dodgers scored five runs in the opening inning, but surrendered the lead as the game progressed.

The Padres put on a show in front of a record crowd and defeated the NL West leaders to start the two-game series.

Dodgers fans on the internet couldn't believe what they had just witnessed.

"That seals the deal. I am no longer a Dodgers fan. I’ve been a fan since 2017 and a season ticket holder since 2019. I officially will not be renewing my plan next season nor will I watch on tv ever again. I’m going to Seattle where they know how to run a baseball club," one disappointed Dodgers fan said.
"I speak for everyone in this fanbase when I say we will not be watching another Dodger game this season," another wrote.
"Dave Roberts got fired. Damn," one fan commented.
"What an embarrassment 🤬" another remarked.

Many fans also threw Blake Treinen under the bus for allowing two runs in the ninth.

"Blake has to go," one fan wrote.
"Treinen rly gave 2 homers in the 9th…," another added.
"Hell of a choke job tonight," one quipped.

Dodgers struggled after hitting five

The Dodgers started the game on a positive note, scoring five in the first inning against Padres starter Matt Waldron. This included a two-run homer from Cavan Biggio, which interestingly was the last scoring shot from the Dodgers.

In response, the Padres scored three runs in the second and third, including a solo shot from Manny Machado in the second, to cut the deficit to 5-3. Both teams struggled to score until the ninth inning when the home team managed two runs off closer Blake Treinen.

Machado started proceedings with a solo shot, which was followed by the game-tying homer from Jackson Merrill to send the game into extras. Robert Suarez held off the Dodgers in the 10th while the Padres loaded the bases for pinch hitter Donovan Solano to walk it off.

With the loss, the Dodgers dropped to 63-45, while the Padres improved to 58-51.
