Former New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter reacted to his former teammate Ichiro Suzuki’s Hall of Fame induction. Suzuki was part of the Yankees from 2012 to 2014 and played alongside Jeter during that time.

Jeter shared some memorable moments with Ichiro Suzuki in New York while congratulating him, captioning the post:

“The model of consistency. Congrats Ichi on election to the MLB HOF!”

On Tuesday, Ichiro Suzuki was inducted with 99.7% of the votes by the Baseball Writers' Association of America in the balloting missing unanimous voting with just one vote.

Two other former players, closer Billy Wagner and starting pitcher CC Sabathia, are also joining the Hall of Fame. Derek Jeter shared a post by MLB on his story announcing Wagner’s induction into the Hall of Fame.

Ichiro Suzuki received 393 votes out of 394, while CC Sabathia got 342 votes, amounting to 86.8%, and Billy Wagner received 325 votes, with 82.5%.

Derek Jeter was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2020. He received 396 out of 397 total votes, a 99.748% vote percentage. Ichiro Suzuki is just behind him with 99.746%.

Jeter is a 14-time All-Star, a five-time World Champion, and a World Series MVP. Meanwhile, Ichiro Suzuki had 10 All-Star selections, won 10 Gold Glove Awards, and earned three Silver Slugger Awards.

Both players were just one vote away from matching Mariano Rivera, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2019 with 100% of the votes, receiving all 425 votes, the only unanimous induction in history. Rivera consistently produced stellar stats throughout his 19-season career with the New York Yankees.

In 17 seasons, Mariano Rivera maintained an ERA under 3.00, while in 11 seasons, his ERA was under 2.00. He totaled 652 career saves and 1,173 strikeouts, with a 1.00 career WHIP.
