The Arizona Diamondbacks are gearing up for another World Series run in 2025. Former Cy Young winner Corbin Burnes signed a six-year, $210 million deal with the D'backs as they look to solidify their bid as a National League West postseason threat.

In an interview with MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM, Diamondback reliever Kevin Ginkel sounded off on how Corbin Burnes could help the squad.

"Just from an experience perspective, he will give us quality innings. Having a guy like Burnes is a huge advantage as we can rely on him to get us through big games and big moments throughout the year."

Ginkel also shared his enthusiasm with Burnes' addition, as it adds even more depth to an already solid starting rotation.

"It will taked a load out of the bullpen. It certainly came as a surprise but I'm pumped to have him in our team. The depth of our rotation is unbelievable. There's so many guys that we can go to."

The reliever also expressed hope that the team can now stand with the giants of their division and the league in general.

"I think it will give us a legitimate chance to be contenders in the National League and hopefully contend in the NL West against the Padres and the Dodgers."

Corbin Burnes' impact on the Diamondbacks

During the 2024 MLB season, the Arizona Diamondbacks mightily struggled on the mound. They finished 27th among pitching crews in terms of ERA with 4.62 due to their woes with the starting rotation and bullpen.

Big money signing Jordan Montgomery didn't pan out for the D'backs as expected, as he posted a 6.23 ERA in 21 starts and four relief appearances. However, the addition of Corbin Burnes might just be what the doctor ordered for the struggling hurling crew.

Corbin Burnes posted a 15-9 record last year to go along with a 2.92 ERA that merited him his fourth-straight All-Star game selection and garnering him enough votes to finish in Top 5 of AL Cy Young voting.

The four-time All-Star could be inserted into the lineup alongside Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly combined with the retooled offense consisting of Ketel Marte, Corbin Carroll, Eugenio Suarez and Josh Naylor as the D'backs make their bid for NL West supremacy.
