Did Aaron Judge stop Alex Rodriguez from making a return to MLB? Retired legend's comments provide interesting answer

88th MLB All-Star Game - Batting Practice
Aaron Judge #99 of the New York Yankees and the American League talks with former MLB player Alex Rodriguez during batting practice for the 88th MLB All-Star Game at Marlins Park on July 11, 2017 in Miami, Florida

It has been six long years since Alex Rodriguez's last MLB game, and Aaron Judge may have spoiled his plans of making a comeback to the major leagues.

As Opening Day fever gripped the entire baseball world, Yankees legend Alex Rodriguez took to Instagram as he spoke once again about how highly he rates the new Yankees captain:

"Opening Day is here. Was gonna try to make a comeback but watched this guy take BP and packed it in. Let’s go! @yankees"

It's safe to assume that Alex Rodriguez was just having some fun while praising Judge and has no intention of making a comeback.

Aaron Judge did not disappoint, with his first at-bat on Opening Day leading to his first homer of the new campaign. Last season, he broke Roger Maris' record for the highest number of home runs in a single MLB season as he crushed 62 homers, with half of them coming in the Bronx.

The record-breaking season saw Judge flirt with free agency and a move to San Francisco, before re-signing with the Bronx Bombers in a staggering nine-year, $360 million deal.

The New York Yankees fanbase have been starved of a World Series for far too long, with their last championship coming in 2009. Derek Jeter led the Pinstripers back then, and they were without a captain since his retirement in 2014.

Judge's elevation to the role makes him only the 16th captain in Yankees history, an indication of the faith shown in him by the management. His reign could not have gotten off to a better start with a 5-0 drubbing of the San Francisco Giants. However, sterner tests are on the way, and the season has just begun.
