Thanks to big market teams clashing in the 2024 World Series (LA Dodgers versus New York Yankees), this year's total player pool of $129,092,159 broke last year's previous record pool of $107.8 million. The total player pool could have been a lot more had the series gone the distance instead of being wrapped in five games with the Dodgers winning their eighth title.
As World Series champions, the Dodgers took a major pie of the total player pool, 36%, amounting to $46,473,177. Per MSN.com, the club has decided to distribute this money among 79 full shares ($477,441 per full share), 17.49 partial shares and $405,000 in cash awards.
As for the ALCS champions and the World Series runners-up, the New York Yankees received 24% of the total player pool. The New York Mets and Cleveland Guardians who lost the LCS against the Dodgers and Yankees, respectively, received 12% each of the total player pool.

Dodgers' historical postseason shares in last decade
Here's a look at the LA Dodgers' postseason shares over the last decade, as per truebluela.com:
How is the total postseason player pool derived?
Per MLB.com:
"The player's pool is formed from 50 percent of the gate receipts from the Wild Card Games; 60 percent of the gate receipts from the first three games of the Division Series; 60 percent of the gate receipts from the first four games of the League Championship Series; and 60 percent of the gate receipts from the first four games of the World Series."
Moreover, traveling expenses for Wild Card teams are also deducted (capped at $100,000 each) since the series is held at only one site.
Who is eligible to get a full share from total teamwise payout?
Every player and manager who is part of the roster on or after June 1 gets full shares. Those part of the team before that will receive compensation depending on how the team votes. Either they get full shares or partial shares out of it depending on voting by players, two certified athletic trainers and one strength and conditioning coach.
Moreover, those directly not related to the playing field, like Spring training coaches, traveling secretaries, clubhouse personnel, media relations staff personnel, scouts and the grounds crew are eligible to receive cash awards from their respective teams who will have complete discretion over the exact amount.
Furthermore, front office executives and security agents are not eligible to take shares out of the player pool.
