Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts spoke about the team's new acquisitions and how their fielding configuration looks right now.
After winning the World Series last year, LA is looking to defend its title and has added the likes of Hyeseong Kim and Michael Conforto to an already stacked lineup. On the Dodgers Territory podcast, Roberts spoke about how their fielding is shaping up ahead of the new season:
"Mookie, right now, is at shortstop. I think with Tommy, probably as it looks right now with Conforto in left and Teo in right, obviously we got the corners in the infield taken care of. You would see Tommy in center field and then with Kim mixed in there at second base. And honestly, we saw him in the series earlier when we went to South Korea last year.
"Haven't seen a whole lot, looking forward to getting to know him more. But in center field James Outman and Pages are still really alive and Tommy obviously has the ability to play second base too. So there's still some moving parts that we have time to figure out, but I do feel that Mookie in the infield is something that we feel really good about."
Dave Roberts led the Dodgers to a World Series title last year after dominating the regular season in the MLB. Having signed Shohei Ohtani ahead of the season and making more additions during the year, Roberts put together a winning team with great chemistry.
Building on last year's success, LA hasa re-signed players like Tommy Edman and Teoscar Hernandez while also adding new names like Hyeseong Kim and Michael Conforto. The team is shaping up nicely, and Roberts has several versatile players in the roster whom he can move around the field depending on the team's needs.
MLB insider reports that Dodgers are among the final three teams in the Roki Sasaki sweepstakes
Roki Sasaki is the latest Japanese pitcher to be posted in the MLB market and has had meetings with several teams in the past month. According to insider Jon Heyman, Sasaki has narrowed down his choices to three teams - Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres and the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Dodgers and the Padres are no surprise, given their reputation for attracting Japanese players in the recent past. The Blue Jays have also heavily linked with several big names over the past few years and will be aggresive in their pursuit of the flamethrower.
