The LA Dodgers are expected to be one of the busiest teams before the MLB trade deadline. They have a star-studded roster, but their lack of depth has made itself known. It's one reason they're not the dominant team many expected them to be this season.
The team is reportedly targeting several players, including Tampa Bay Rays star Isaac Paredes and LA Angels infielder Luis Rengifo. Rengifo is hitting over .300 and can play third base, which is an area LA needs to shore up. Paredes has 16 home runs and also plays third base.
Another target on their radar is Chicago Cubs' Nico Hoerner, who is another infielder with experience at third. Washington Nationals reliever Kyle Finnegan and Detroit Tigers starter Jack Flaherty have also been linked to rumors.
Areas where the Dodgers need to add at trade deadline
LA needs to add infield help before the MLB trade deadline. It's highly unlikely but they may want to consider looking into a shortstop instead of a third baseman.
The team had Mookie Betts at shortstop, but currently, he's recovering from injury. When he returns, if the depth at that spot is good enough (whether by keeping Miguel Rojas there or by adding another player), they could shift Betts back to his natural right-field position.
This would shore up the outfield as well. If they can't do that, they should look for an outfielder since most non-Teoscar Hernandez players out there have not played all that well so far this season. And of course, pitching is always on the menu for the Boys in Blue.
