The LA Dodgers, one of the most formidable sides of MLB 2024, will face the Arizona Diamondbacks for a three-game series starting Monday in Dodger Stadium.
After almost two months of the season complete, the big spending offseason has been fruitful for the Dodgers, as their star-studded lineup has been great so far. They have won six of their past 10 games and lead the NL West with a 32-17 record.
However, the same can't be said about the D-Backs. They have won just five of their last 10 games and are currently fourth in the NL West with a 22-25 record.
The Dodgers would like to continue their great season with yet another dominating performance for a series victory. The D-Backs, on the other hand, will hope for an upset win.
Dodgers vs Diamondbacks head-to-head
Game 1 of this series will air live on MLB TV from 10:10 p.m. EDT on Monday.
The two NL West teams have faced each other 455 times in the regular season. The Dodgers have historically held the upper hand with 261 wins.
Dodgers vs Diamondbacks Pitching Matchups
Japanese ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto is set to start on the mound for the Dodgers in Game 1. Although his first outing with the team in Seoul wasn't ideal, his fortune has changed for the good. So far, the Dodgers' $325 million star has made nine starts. He has an ERA of 3.21, a WHIP of 1.03 and 53 strikeouts.
On the other hand, 33-year-old veteran pitcher Joe Mantiply will start for the Diamondbacks. So far this season, Mantiply has featured in 21 games. He has an ERA of 4.67, a WHIP of 1.327 and has 14 strikeouts.
Dodgers vs Diamondback Prediction
The Dodgers hitting list is star-studded with names such Mookie Betts, Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman. It will be a test for Mantiply to figure out a way to keep them quiet. Even if the Arizona ace is successful in keeping the Dodgers hitting prowess silent, the Diamondbacks have to worry about pitchers, like Yamamoto and Walker Buehler.
It should be a great matchup with both sides giving their absolute best to win the first game of this series. However, keeping the recent performances in mind, the Dodgers have the upper hand.
