Trevor Bauer had plenty of legal advisors and consultants while he battled with Lindsey Hill in court over sexual assault allegations. One of them, per Hill, is Derek Dawson, an employee with an AHL hockey team. A San Diego fan, Dawson was at the clinching game of the NLDS in 2022, and he shared a video of him and his son celebrating the victory.
Almost two years later, Hill quoted his tweet and went after him. She questioned him for working with Bauer, wondering what Dawson's young son would think of everything.
Hill said:
"Does your son know that Trevor Bauer paid you & your legal fees while you teamed up with him? Does he know you went to the police and told them I was lying?"
She continued ripping into Dawson:
"And that you handed over messages about my previous relationships that had nothing to do with the case for a pay day? And can’t forget you giving your lawyer my family’s private phone numbers so he could threaten them via text."
The accuser finished by saying that the San Diego Gulls, an AHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks in the National Hockey League, should be ashamed that they employ Dawson. It's unclear what prompted this, though she did speak about the issues in other social media posts as well.
Trevor Bauer deserves second chance says former MLB star
David Wells, a former New York Yankees, and Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher, believes that despite what Lindsey Hill says or has gone through in court over the last few years, Trevor Bauer should be on an MLB roster.
The ex-MLB star said via Fox News that he believes in second chances, but thinks MLB teams are scared to give Bauer one. He thinks there's very little risk since Bauer has exhibited pitching quality even now:
"Why would you not take a chance on a guy? I mean, if I was an owner and I saw the ability in this guy, and he’s not gonna be a distraction to the team, and he’s going to go out and pitch, why wouldn’t you give him a second chance? I believe in second chances as long as they’re solidified and his was solidified."
Thus far, the only thing that has come of Bauer's attempted return is that the Houston Astros reportedly watched him throw a bullpen but are not going to sign him.
