On Tuesday, reliever Joe Kelly's wife, Ashle Nicole, took to Instagram to upload a video as she and a group of friends performed their version of the iconic 'Jingle Bell Rock dance' from the film "Mean Girls." Apparently, this is an annual tradition that the group has maintained for more than two decades.
"We've been doing this sh*t since early 2000s🤣," Ashley Nicole captioned one of her Instagram stories.
Per reports, Joe Kelly and Ashley Nicole first met when the pair were studying at the University of California, Riverside. It appears Ashley also shares her husband's passion for sports, as she played soccer at the D1 level while Joe Kelly played baseball for the Highlanders.
After dating for a few years, the couple eventually decided to tie the knot in November 2013. The pair currently have four children, of which three are sons: Knox, Blake and Kai; and a daughter, Crue.
Joe Kelly and wife Ashley head back to University of California, Riverside, for alumni appreciation night
On Dec. 20, the University of California, Riverside's official Instagram page posted a snap of Joe Kelly and his better half, Ashley Nicole. They were welcomed back to their former stomping ground for alumni appreciation night.
"LET’S PACK THE HOUSE, HIGHLANDERS! 🐻 #UCRiverside Alumni Appreciation Night with Joe & Ashley Kelly: Sat., Jan. 18, 2025! We’re welcoming the Kellys back to campus to honor their 3rd World Series Championship (GO DODGERS! 🏆)," the post was captioned.
On the field, it was a season that would surely live long in the memory of anyone who is a Los Angeles Dodgers fan. Though Kelly was not able to take to the mound much, due to a shoulder injury, the 36-year-old still celebrated winning the World Series for the third time in his career. This was after his team made light work of the AL pennant winners, the New York Yankees, in the Fall Classic.
If one were to ask Joe Kelly, though, Fat Joe, the artist who performed at Yankee Stadium in Game 5, had quite a significant impact on how things panned out on that famous day. On that occasion, the Dodgers came back from a five-run deficit to clinch the title.
As soon as the 2024 season came to an end, Kelly effectively entered free agency. It is yet to be seen where the veteran decides to take his talents next season.
