Even though Trevor Bauer has not pitched in the MLB since 2021, the former Cy Young award winner has remained consistently active on social media. He has thus kept his name at the top of the minds of baseball fans.
The former All-Star pitcher has been documenting his journey with the Diablos Rojos del México in the Mexican League.
As part of his constant activity online, Trevor Bauer has been sharing highlights of his performances, as well as his personality on the mound and in the dugout.
One of the reasons why the former Cincinnati Reds star's videos have been so successful is that he is not willing to shy away from his struggles during some of his games.
In his latest post, Bauer shared his frustration with one of his starts for his Mexican League club. The former Los Angeles Dodgers star can be seen in the video struggling to get his first pitch into the strike zone, giving his opponents an advantage right out of the gate.
"Dude, get in the f****** zone!" Trevor Bauer said to himself while clearly annoyed with his struggles.
In the video, Bauer breaks down his struggles, showing his inability to get ahead in the count in multiple at-bats. After some discussion with his coaches, as well as himself, Bauer took a different approach as the game progressed.
The change worked as he eventually recorded an impressive strikeout with a series of off-speed pitches before hitting his signature 'sword' action at the end.
Trevor Bauer has been excellent in Mexico but an MLB return remains uncertain
Bauer has not only been cleared of any criminal wrongdoing stemming from sexual assault allegations but has been dominant in the Mexican League. This thus opens up the possibility of a return to the MLB.
The 33-year-old has been nearly untouchable at times in Mexico, posting a 10-0 record with a 2.48 ERA and 120 strikeouts in 83.1 innings.
Despite all of these factors working in his favor, it remains to be seen if he will be able to secure another MLB contract. The veteran has yet to officially receive an offer from any club, despite a need for starting pitching across the MLB.
There is a chance that Bauer's time in the MLB may already be over unless things don't change.
