The Los Angeles Dodgers hosted the reigning World Series champions, the Texas Rangers at Dodger Stadium for the series opener on Tuesday. Fans at the ballpark welcomed former Dodgers World Series winner Corey Seager.

Rangers shortstop Corey Seager, who is recovering from a hamstring injury, was greeted with a warm welcome from the Dodgers fans on his return to the ballpark for a regular season game for the first time since leaving as a free agent in 2021.

The four-time All-Star waved and tipped his cap to the Dodgers faithful while watching the game from the Rangers dugout.

Dodgers fans expressed their gratitude towards the former Rookie of the Year on his return to the Dodger Stadium.

One fan urged the Dodgers to resign their former star shortstop.

"Can you go steal him back."
"Dude won us the World Series, I need everyone standing up."
"2020 NLCS AND WS MVP… welcome home," wrote a fan.

Several Dodgers fans lamented the former World Series MVP's departure, blaming the team for not retaining the star shortstop.

"Should've made this guy a Dodger for life!! Imagine him at SS instead of Mookie, and him hitting in the middle of the order instead of Lux," quipped another fan.
"Wish we kept him instead of Trea," a fan added.
"The fact that we let him walk smh," a disgruntled fan wrote.

A first-round pick by the Dodgers, Corey Seager won the Rookie of the Year award in his first season with the team in 2016. He registered 104 home runs during his seven-year stint with the franchise and his clutch performance during the team's 2020 postseason triumph earned him the World Series MVP title.

Following his World Series triumph, Seager signed a 10-year, $325 million contract with the Texas Rangers in 2021, the largest in the franchise history.

Corey Seager replicated his postseason heroics last season with the Texas Rangers, helping the franchise to their first World Series title. He won his second World Series MVP title after his clutch performance in October.

However, the 2024 season has been a stop-start for the two-time World Series winner. While he is not in the line-up for the first game of the series, Seager remains positive of a start at his former stomping ground.

“Definitely trending. It’s positive. It’s hard not to play every day,” he said before the game. “You want to be out there with your guys.”

The Dodgers took a monumental lead during the first game of the series after a seven-run sixth inning to lead the game 15-2.
