Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker asserted his confidence in new Astros general manager Dana Brown's leadership for the team's bright future. With Brown joining Houston late last year, it is only the second time in MLB history that a team has an African American GM and manager.
Brown was hired by owner Jim Crane following several lengthy interviews and he does have a very impressive resume. In addition to playing in college, Brown has experience in scouting and previously led the Atlanta Braves' player development department.
"I think Dana Brown is the perfect man for this job because he knows every aspect of this game," said Baker on MLB Network Radio, highlighting Brown's solid background across various levels of baseball.

Since Brown and Baker share a good bond, the new GM will undeniably be a great fit for the Houston Astros as they try for another championship title.
Houston Astros GM Dana Brown was drafted by Phillies
Dana Brown played three Minor League Baseball seasons for the Philadelphia Phillies after being picked by them in the 35th round of the 1989 MLB Draft. The fact that Brown played baseball and has vast knowledge of the game appealed to Astros owner Jim Crane.

After his playing career, Brown became a scout for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1994. Before becoming Astros GM in January 2023, Dana worked as:
- Director of Amateur Scouting- Washington Nationals
- Special Assistant to General Manager- Toronto Blue Jays
- Vice President of Scouting -Atlanta Braves (2019 to 2022)
We will see if Houston can get their wish for another championship in the upcoming season.
