Dylan Cease had a stellar campaign in 2024, finishing No. 4 in the NL Cy Young voting, behind Chris Sale, Zach Wheeler and Paul Skenes. With rumors of the Padres trading him before the beginning of the 2025 season circulating, Cease has already begun his offseason workouts.
On Monday, Dylan Cease shared a photo on his Instagram story, showing an intense dead lifting session. The Padres pitcher, known for his focus on fitness and concentration, displayed a fresh look with a beard, a noticeable change from his usual mustache, which he sports during the season.
Moreover, the ace pitcher wore a Supreme Flight tee and Adidas shorts with black and white gym shoes. The Padres ace had also tagged Supreme Flight on the story.
Supreme Flight is a premier disc golf brand founded by Paul McBeth, a six-time PDGA World Champion. The brand has since expanded its horizons through a partnership with Dylan Cease, a passionate disc golfer.
For Cease, disc golf comes first after baseball. In addition to being the co-owner of Supreme Flight, the 29-year-old pitcher co-owns two disc golf courses: Cactus Rock and Alabama. He also co-owns Brixton Disc Golf, a trading card company producing licensed disc golf cards for DGPT.
Considered one of the best strikeout pitchers in the game, Cease will be looking to make a statement in the upcoming season as he will become a free agent later this year.
Dylan Cease's love for beekeeping
In July 2024, Dylan Cease brought honey to his Padres teammates when they went to Atlanta. Cease hails from Milton, Georgia. The Padres ace talked about his beekeeping in an interview with Bleacher Report in December.
Interestingly, beekeeping isn't something he did while he grew up. Cease and his father began to do it during the COVID lockdown out of boredom. Even though it started as a hobby, Cease's dad has been continuing it.
Cease currently commanding a salary of $15,000,000. With fellow ace Michael King becoming a free agent later this year, many predict the Padres will likely trade Cease or lose him in free agency, as he will command a bigger free-agent deal than King.
Cease had played the entirety of his career with the White Sox before they traded him to San Diego in early 2024. His debut season was spectacular, coming close to his career-best 2022 season with the White Sox.
However, his sole start in the 2024 postseason, against the Dodgers, ended in disappointment, as he gave up eight runs in five innings. Dodgers sportscaster credited Shohei Ohtani's home run against Cease in the game as a pivotal moment of the NLDS.
