Elvis Andrus contract: What is the White Sox shortstop's salary for the 2023 season?

Minnesota Twins v Chicago White Sox
Elvis Andrus will play an important depth role for the Chicago White Sox this season

At 34 years old, Elvis Andrus continues to be a productive player in the MLB, finding himself as an essential rotational piece for the Chicago White Sox this season. The 15-year MLB veteran has appeared in all six games for the White Sox this season.

After being acquired by the White Sox last season, the veteran infielder impressed by batting .271 with nine home runs and 28 RBIs through 43 games. His level of production on the field, as well as the veteran leadership role in the clubhouse, led to Andrus returning to the club for the 2023 campaign.

Following his short stint with the club last season, Andrus and the Chicago White Sox reached a new deal for the 2023 campaign. The veteran signed a one-year, $3 million contract to remain in Chicago. While he likely could have found a contract elsewhere around the league, the White Sox were keen to keep his presence on and off the field.

Andrus will find himself as an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, finding himself in a similar situation as he did last year. If he can perform near the level he has throughout his career, Elvis Andrus will have no problem finding a home around the league if not offered an extension by the Chicago White Sox.

"Am I crazy or is Elvis Andrus joining the 2,000-hit club flying super under the radar? Like... it barely made headlines last night. One of only four active players to do it!" - Kendall Baker

Through six games with Chicago this season, Andrus is batting .130 with a stolen base. His numbers so far have not been impressive, but with 156 games remaining in the regular season, fans have no reason to panic over the potential Hall of Fame talent.

A look at Elvis Andrus' MLB career

Andrus made his MLB debut at 20 years old with the Texas Rangers in 2009, playing in 145 games. In his rookie season, Andrus finished with six home runs, 40 RBIs and 33 stolen bases, while also batting .267. He finished second in Rookie of the Year voting behind Andrew Bailey of the Oakland Athletics.

Through stints with the Texas Rangers, Oakland Athletics and Chicago White Sox, Elvis Andrus has recorded 2000 hits, 96 home runs, 731 RBIs and 336 stolen bases. He has remained a reliable hitter, maintaining a career .270 batting average.
