Former professional baseball player Ryan Ripken and Baltimore Orioles rookie Jackson Holliday recently talked about Jackson's siblings Ethan and Reed. Both Ethan and Reed aspire to follow in Jackson and father Matt's footsteps and forge a path to one day play in the big leagues.
Jackson Holliday was drafted in 2022 as the number one overall pick by the Baltimore Orioles. Ethan is set to graduate in 2025, and is projected to also be the number one pick in the 2025 MLB draft. Reed, the youngest of the trio, is set to graduate in 2027.
In an exclusive interview uploaded on Ripken's Youtube channel on Saturday, Jackson Holliday talked about his brother Ethan's stature.
"He (Ethan)'s huge. I'm still waiting for my growth spurt, he just grew right past me a few years ago. Big ol' hands, a great arm, it's pretty fun to watch." (12:32)
Further in the video, Jackson also recalled funny incidents with his youngest brother Reed, and talked about how he is creative with his snacks.
"My littest brother (Reed) makes his own cheez-its. With pieces of cheese cut up and thrown in the microwave, he'll burn the cheese. Put pepperoni on it, then he's got cheese and pepperoni, and he sometimes puts soy sauce. I'm not as creative as him." (28:50)
Jackson Holliday, Orioles slump to disappointing series loss against Rays
The Baltimore Orioles fell to a 2-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays at Camden Yards on Sunday, as the visitors went on to clinch the series after having lost the first game. In a low scoring game, the only runs scored came in the top of the sixth via a Jonny DeLuca homer. Starting pitcher Corbin Burnes recorded a quality start, pitching six innings and conceding two runs, but ultimately ended up on the losing side.
With division rivals the New York Yankees losing later in the day to the Chicago Cubs, the Orioles failed to capitalized on a home game against the offensively struggling Tampa Bay Rays. A win would have the team gain on the Yankees, but as it stands, the O's are second in the division with a record of 82-62.
Next, Balitmore is headed to Fenway Park to take on the Boston Red Sox on Monday. With both teams having lost the previous games, the series opener between the two promises to be a thrilling game.
