Evan Phillips' wife Elizabeth's joyful 4-word reaction to Tanner Scott's four-year Dodgers deal says it all

LA Dodgers reliever Evan Phillips will welcome fellow reliever Tanner Scott after the franchise agreed with a four-year, $72 million deal on Sunday. Scott is coming off an exceptional season with the Miami Marlins and San Diego Padres and was sought-after this offseason.

After learning the news, Phillips' wife Elizabeth, was excited since she will once again reunite with her bestie, Mrs. Scott, Maddie. She posted a four-word reaction on her social media story:

"Back with the Besties," she wrote, while tagging her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Scott.

What's the connection between Evan Phillips and Tanner Scott?

According to David Vassegh, Evan Phillips and Tanner Scott have been working out together in the last few off seasons. Their first connecting link dates back to their time in Baltimore, where both were teammates. Moreover, the insider from SportsNetLA also revealed kept his free agency cards close to him.

In July 2018, the Atlanta Braves, who drafted Evan Phillips in the 17th round of the 2015 MLB draft traded him alongside Jean Carlos Encarnacion, Brett Cumberland, Bruce Zimmermann and international signing money to the Orioles for Kevin Gausman and Darren O'Day.

This is when Phillips and Scott shared the bullpen from 2018 to 2020. In Aug. 2021, Phillips was released by the Orioles. He then signed a minor league deal with the Tampa Bay Rays; however, was DFA'd the following day.

The Dodgers then claimed Phillips off the waivers. Since then, the bullpen pitcher continues to be a stronghold in the Dodgers pitching camp.

Scott's signing only adds weight to the Dodgers loaded bullpen which includes Alex Vesia and Blake Treinen, both of who had ERAs below 2.00 in 2024. Moreover, Michael Kopech is also there as an option.

Apart from that, there's a good chance one or two starters may get a reliever role given how flushed the team's starting pitching is.

The Dodgers are coming off an exceptional season, winning the World Series. It was their bullpen who saved the day in Game 4 in the NLDS series against the San Diego Padres when the club was facing elimination.
