Jesus Luzardo, a left-handed starting pitcher in the National League, is going to have a new home in 2025. He has been pitching for the Miami Marlins, but he will move to a new team in the NL East this season. The Philadelphia Phillies landed him in a trade, and they had to beat out a number of other suitors to get that done.

Luzardo has had a successful start to his MLB career, but he was dealt with a back injury (a lumbar stress reaction) in the middle of the 2024 season. He threw only 66.1 innings a season ago, and he went just 3-6 with a 5.00 ERA. The Phillies still wanted to acquire the southpaw, and he's expecting to return to form in 2025.

In an article by a Phillies beat writer posted by MLB Trade rumors on Tuesday, Jesus Luzardo expressed optimism about how things have been progressing as he looks to return to the mound.

"Last year, the back was really the problem," Luzardo said. "Now that we’ve got that all figured out, thankfully everything’s back to normal.

Jesus Luzardo said that he has been able to have a normal offseason and that should allow him to be ready to go for the start of spring training. The Philadelphia Phillies don't need Luzardo to be the ace of their staff, but they need more than 66 innings.

Fans upset by Marlins trading Jesus Luzardo

Miami Marlins fans have seen this situation play out before as they continue to see their team trading away its biggest stars. The trade of Jesus Luzardo was always expected to happen as there were rumors dating back to the 2024 trade deadline.

When news of the trade broke last month, Marlins fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express their frustrations. Miami got shortstop prospect Starlyn Caba and

"Return is sh*t," one fan wrote.

Jesus Luzuardo now knows where he will be pitching in 2025, and he will hopefully have a healthy year.
