The Los Angeles Dodgers have been one of the most consistent teams in the league over the last couple of seasons. They've had the National League West on lock, winning it nine times over the last 10 seasons.
They were easily the best team in baseball during the regular season last year. The Dodgers finished the season with a 111-51 record, the best in the league. They would go on to fall flat on their face in the postseason as they lost to the San Diego Padres.
Given their division dominance, they don't have much to show other than that. Aside from 2020, they've been lackluster in the postseason. That's a problem MLB analyst Chris Domino has with the team in this Sportskeeda exclusive.
"They scored the most runs, gave up the fewest runs. That's incredible. But you know what they have to show for it? One baby World Series," said Chris Dimino.
For a team that has won its division with ease more times than not, Dimino expects more World Series wins from them. Not many teams in the league have a championship window as large as the Los Angeles Dodgers have had, and they just have not taken advantage.
"They go and find gems on the mound. I'm sorry, when you do that, and you have one 60-game World Series, I won't take it away from you, but it's not impressive. You're actually underachieving at that point," Dimino continued.
Dimino believes one recent World Series championship from the Dodgers is underperforming. The team has the means to sign the best players year in and year out, yet it hasn't helped them much in the long run.
"For certain organizations, I'm sorry, being a playoff team isn't good enough. You've got to win something now in some of these cities," Dimino finished.
For a team like the Dodgers, Dimino believes they shouldn't be happy with just being a playoff team. They have the talent and the means to be the team to beat every year.
Losing Trea Turner hurt the Los Angeles Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers took a hit when they lost Trea Turner in free agency, followed by Gavin Lux injuring himself. Luckily, they traded for Miguel Rojas in the offseason, or they would have had to scramble to find a shortstop before Opening Day.
It will be interesting to see how this team fares this season without Turner.
