Francisco Lindor was named as the New York Mets' nominee for the Roberto Clemente Award. The award is presented to individuals from the baseball community who have done exemplary philantrophic work and helped in community development. To celebrate the occasion, his wife Katia Lindor sported a special jacket during the nomination presentation at Citi Field.

In a carousel post on Instagram, his wife posted a picture of the entire family with her husband and their two children. In the next two slides, she flaunted her custom jacket featuring snaps from Lindor's time in the Queens. The last slide featured their youngest daughter on the field in front of the jumbotron showcasing her dad's nomination.

"To say I’m proud would be an understatement. Your philanthropic efforts throughout the years are just one of the many ways your heart shines beyond the field. Whether or not you win this award, the legacy you’re creating for our children is one of selflessness, kindness, and the vital importance of giving back—using our privilege to do good in the world. We love you!
"P.S. I’ll gladly rock your face on my clothes forever—fashion statement of a lifetime," Katia wrote as her caption.

Francisco Lindor's major contributions en route to the Roberto Clemente Award nomination

The reason why the Mets chose Lindor to be represented for the Roberto Clemente Award is because of his continuous presence in helping communities. The shortstop is a regular donor to his alma mater in Florida, Montverde Academy. He has been key in developing and maintaining facilities at the school, while also setting up a scholarship that helps young children.

The shortstop has also immensely given back to his current hometown of Queens. The 30-year-old is in partnership with New Balance and has provided backpacks to middle school students in the area.

He is nominated alongside some legends of the game like Mookie Betts, Mike Trout, and Chris Sale. The voting period is going to end on the 29th of this month and the winner will be announced at the year-end MLB awards ceremony.

Currently, the Mets infielder is out due to injury.
