San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. turned 26 on Thursday. The two-time All-Star celebrated the occasion with his friends and family.
His mother, Maria, uploaded a video clip on Instagram of Tatis Jr. getting ready to blow out the candle on his birthday cake. She also wrote a heartfelt message for her son.
"Happy birthday to the flacuss of the Tatis family," she said. "My baby, my big louse, I thank God for your life in our lives. We love you, and we continue to pray and believe that everything designed in heaven becomes visible and tangible on earth so that each year that Dad God allows you to fulfill is under his supreme will.
"Always remember that you are a miracle from God with an assignment to fulfill in this world. Mommy, daddy, and your brothers, we love you, and we hope you have many, many more years to celebrate together."
Fernando Tatis Jr. made his major league debut in 2019 as the shortstop for the San Diego Padres. He soon became one of the best all-round players in the game and signed a 14-year, $320 million contract extension two years later but was suspended for the 2022 season after testing positive for PEDs.
Tatis has transitioned himself into a Platinum Glove-winning right fielder since his return.

On Thursday, Fernando Tatis Jr. enjoyed his birthday at a restaurant in the company of his closest family and friends, including his parents and his younger brother, Elijah. The video clip uploaded by his mother showed the San Diego Padres superstar dancing and clapping as he blew out the candle on the birthday cake.
The upload also had Tatis posing for some selfies with his mother and younger brother. There was another image of the outfielder showing a photograph to his father on the phone.
Fernando Tatis Jr. was born in the city of San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic. His father, Fernando Tatis, played for five different teams in the MLB in a career spanning over 11 seasons. Tatis Sr. was into his third year with the St. Louis Cardinals when his eldest son was born on January 2, 1999.
