Mets ace shortstop Francisco Lindor shed light on how nurturing and moving it is to see his daughters in the stands during most gamedays at Citi Field and cheer him on. In an exclusive interview with MLB.com, Lindor, a father of two, talked extensively about his daughters, how proud he is of them and how they look up to him as their whole world. He said:
"It's amazing man, just to have Amapola, Kalina, and Katia, you know, right there. Katia has been an amazing mom and an amazing partner. And just to see my daughters enjoy the process that I am going through right now in life, you know, I am a professional baseball player. I don't know if they understand it, And I love that I am for them, I am just daddy."
He continued:
"You know, it don't matter what happens in the world. I am their guy. I am their person. I am the person that they wake up and smile and the person that they run up to and they feel protected. You know, I just love that. I just love that stage, that I am in with them and to have them pretty much at every game, it's amazing. I appreciate being able to be their dad."
The interviewer also asked Lindor whether he had ever heard his daughters cheer for him during gamedays at Citi Field, and he replied:
"Right there at Yankee stadium, that day they were very close. And there have been a couple of times where they are on top of the dugout, near the dugout and I can hear them. I can hear Kalina and Amapola just claps when everybody claps, which is kind of cute. But most of the times, Katia has a suite and so I can't really hear them, but I see them every single at-bat, every single pitch that they are there."
Francisco Lindor shared the story behind how he met Katia
Francisco Lindor told the amazing story of how he came across his wife Katia for the first time. In an interview with the New York Post in 2022, he said:
"I messaged her on Instagram. Her picture popped up and I was like, 'This girl is beautiful!'
"We talked for three months and then I met her in Arizona 'cause I was out there for spring training. We just hung out and I was like, 'I think she's the one.' At first, I was a little bit like, 'Ahh, I don't want to really commit,' but I knew that she was the one."
Katia and Francisco Lindor got married on Dec. 16, 2021, in Miami, Florida. They are proud parents of two daughters: Kalina Zoe, born on Nov. 4, 2020, and Amapole Chloe, born on June 17, 2023.
