With the trade deadline approaching, Trevor Bauer continues to hope for a chance to return to the MLB since being sidelined. He hasn't been with an MLB team since the Los Angeles Dodgers released him in January 2023.
Bauer has remained active on social media, particularly on X/Twitter, as he hopes to return to Major League Baseball, and often engages in arguments on these platforms.
When a fan tagged Trevor Bauer in a post highlighting the Dodgers' pitching woes, the 2018 All-Star reposted the comment with the caption:
“I’ll do it for league minimum if they want.”
A user reposted Bauer's comment, suggesting he play for free and donate his earnings to a women’s charity, hoping he would show "contrition" for his past troubles. Bauer responded:
“Contrition for what, getting set up, extorted and defrauded?”
Trevor Bauer was accused of assaulting a woman in San Diego in June 2021 and was put on administrative leave by the MLB and investigated by police. No criminal charges were filed due to insufficient evidence, and Bauer sued the woman for defamation.
During the 2021 investigation, court records showed another woman sought a protective order against Bauer in Ohio in June 2020. In 2022 and 2023, a third woman accused him of sexual assault, which Bauer denied.
Although Trevor Bauer was never charged or arrested, he garnered criticism from fans and was not pursued by MLB teams, keeping him out of the league until now.
Former pitcher David Wells thinks Trevor Bauer deserves a second chance in MLB
Former New York Yankees pitcher David Wells expressed support for Bauer. According to Fox News Digital, Wells believes Bauer deserves another chance to play in the MLB.
“He was a hell of a pitcher. He should go in. I mean look at all these guys in the past who crap all over themselves and get in trouble. And they got second, third, fourth chances,” Wells said.
Bauer is playing in the Mexican League with the Diablos Rojos del Mexico and has signed with them for the entire 2024 season.
