Former MLB pitcher David Aardsma has high hopes for the New York Mets' star pitchers, Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer. In a recent interview on MLB Network Radio, Aardsma expressed his confidence in the potential of this star-studded duo to lead the Mets to World Series glory.
Justin, who is coming off a stellar MLB season, joined the Mets on a two-year $86.7 million contract. Verlander elected for free agency after the 2022 World Series win with the Houston Astros and his transition from Houston to Queens came weeks after clinching the title.
The reigning Cy Young award winner joins Scherzer to form what Aardsma considers to be one of the most formidable rotations in the MLB:
"Bringing in a guy like Verlander, I think, and you look at him and Shirley now they've got two guys who know how to win World Series, know how to take teams, put them on their back.
"Verlander has been injured in the past, but they're still on such a high versus the rest of the league where they're able to put up numbers that very few people can at such an age. Their rotation now looks competitive with anybody around the league."

Of course, it will take more than just two players to win a World Series, and the Mets will need to put in the work to make it happen. It's going to be an exciting season for their fans and Aardsma's prediction has certainly added to the buzz around the team.

Mets fans are particularly intrigued by the idea of Verlander and Scherzer working together after years of rivalry dating back to their time with the Detroit Tigers. Fans acknowledged that it will be strange to see the pair on the same team. However, they're also excited to see what kind of chemistry the two pitchers develop to lead the team to an incredible season.
