Francisco Lindor wins hearts as “Mr. Smile”

Mets fans have affectionately referred to Francisco Lindor as "Mr. Smile" due to his joy on and off the field. But Lindor’s smile is not a show. It’s a genuine part of his life, roots and upbringing.

PIX11, a local New York station, quoted Lindor about his smile in 2022:

“My mom is extremely happy. She’s always smiling. She’s a very happy woman. So I get it from her.”

While Lindor’s mom has a lot to do with his sunny disposition, she’s not the only reason Lindor always flashes a grin.

Lindor had this to say about the cultural influence behind his signature smile.

“It’s my background. It’s my roots. I grew up there. I learned a lot from being in Puerto Rico. We Puerto Ricans are extremely proud. Wherever we go we mention to everybody that we are Puerto Rican. I love being Puerto Rican.”

Lindor had plenty to smile about in 2024 as the New York Mets faced the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series. With the addition of megastar Juan Soto, among other key players, Lindor will be looking to flash the biggest smile of his life in October.

As Lindor told PIX11 in 2022:

“I want to win. I want to bring a championship to Queens. I want everybody to be in the parade, take it from Midtown all the way down to Flushing. That’s the ultimate goal.”

If Lindor has his way, the parade will be one Mets fans and New Yorkers will never forget.
