Francisco Lindor's wife draws George Orwell's '1984' parallels to Elon Musk's controversial salute

On Friday, New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor's wife, Katia Reguero, took to Instagram to share a post to her story, comparing the controversial 'salute' Elon Musk recently performed.

The controversy in question arose after numerous individuals spoke about Musk's gesture sharing an uncanny likeness to a Nazi Salute.

In the post that Katia Reguero shared, parallels are drawn between the events of real life and fiction. A passage from legendary novelist George Orwell's popular book, '1984,' is given, which reads:

"The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command. – George Orwell, 1984"

Musk performed the salute when he recently attended a Donald Trump rally, thanking supporters for their contribution toward electing Trump for his second term at the White House.

While Musk has denied that the gesture had anything to do with the infamous Nazi salute, critics of him and President Trump have refused to accept the explanation of the tech tycoon.

On Tuesday, four-time All-Star Francisco Lindor's wife, Katia Reguero, took to Instagram to post a video, accompanied by a lengthy message. In it, she reflected on how becoming a mother has given her another dimension of strength that she didn't otherwise know she had.

"Strong before, now, and after 💪 Motherhood is a deeply transformative experience, one that changes us physically, mentally, and emotionally. Our bodies go through big changes: scars, new curves, stretch marks; reflections of the ability to give life.

"Simultaneously, our mind adapts, facing from joy indescribable to exhaustion and doubts that redefine who we are. These changes can challenge our mood and self-esteem, but they also teach us to be resilient and value our strength."

The post goes on to talk about 'embracing' the changes caused to the body and describes motherhood as a 'journey of transformation.'

Francisco Lindor and Katia Reguero currently have two daughters together, Kalina, who was born in November of 2020, and Amapola, who was born in June 2023. The couple announced midway through December 2024 that they are expecting their third child together.
