When Freddie Freeman hit the walk-off grand slam on Friday in the World Series opener, he was just getting started. The Dodgers infielder continued his hot streak as he went yard in Game 3 on Monday at the Bronx to help his team to a 4-2 victory to move within one game of winning the title.

Battling with a sprained ankle throughout the postseason, Freeman was even unsure of his participation in the Fall Classic. However, days off after the NLCS helped him recover in time. He batted his way to World Series folklore with the first-ever walk-off grand slam.

Then the very next day in Game 2, he homered again in the third innings, this time a solo hit. On Monday, he took the opportunity on his very first at-bat. Shohei Ohtani led off the first innings with a walk. After Mookie Betts flew out, Freeman came to the plate to face the Yankees' Clarke Schmidt. On a 1-2 count and 93 mph cutter, the 2020 NLCS MVP hit a 355-foot home run into the right field.

With his home run, Freeman equaled four-time All-Star George Springer's record of five consecutive World Series games with a homer. The 35-year-old had homered in games 5 and 6 in 2021 when he won the World Series with the Atlanta Braves. When told about this feat by Ken Rosenthal in the post-game interview, Freeman gave a funny two-word reaction.

Freddie also has a chance to set a new World Series record on Tuesday by becoming the first player ever to homer in the first four games of the World Series.

Freddie Freeman dead set on completing the job

With the Dodgers now a game away from getting their eighth franchise title and the first since 2020, Freddie Freeman exclaimed that he would take any form of victory.

"One more win, that's all I care about right now. I don't care how it happens, I just want to get one more win," Freeman said.

The eight-time All-Star improved to a .244 batting average this postseason with seven RBIs, all of which have come in the last three games. He would be optimistic as only once in the history of the sport has a team lost after taking a 0-3 lead in a seven-game series. That just happens to be the Yankees against the Red Sox in the 2004 ALCS.
