LA Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman is the epitome of a passionate baseball player. It's no surprise that his influence has rubbed off on his eldest son, Charlie, who loves watching and playing baseball.
With Freeman busy navigating the grueling 162-game regular season, his wife Chelsea often takes on the role of accompanying Charlie to his Little League games.
On Sunday, Chelsea reposted a photo from M Loy E Martinez, a fellow "Travel baseball mom." The photo shows Charlie with his baseball teammates, enjoying a game from the stands. The post from Martinez reads:
"When you get a break from baseball... you just watch some more baseball."
Chelsea reshared the post and added a heart emoji to it.
Freddie Freeman's All-Star selections mean the world to son Charlie
Freddie Freeman consistently hits at an elite level, which often earns him a spot on the All-Star team. This also gives his son, Charlie, the exciting opportunity to meet one of his favorite players, Fernando Tatis Jr., during the Midsummer Classic.
In an interview with MLB.com following his fifth All-Star selection in July 2021, Freeman revealed how much these All-Star selections mean to his son.
"That was the only thing he wanted me to do, was to make it so he could meet [Tatis]," Freddie said. "Charlie's really gonna enjoy this one. That's what it's all about. I'm just happy to make it so Charlie can go and meet some more players. That's what makes it exciting for me, is having my son be more excited than I am. It's just cool. Five [All-Star selections] definitely is special. But I'm just more excited that Charlie gets to go again."
That alone provides enough motivation for Freeman to make the All-Star team every year, as long as he remains injury-free.
Additionally, it's encouraging to know that Freeman's team, the LA Dodgers, is home to some of the league's biggest stars, including Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts. With the Dodgers, Charlie has the opportunity to meet, learn from and play alongside these top players every day during the regular season.
