Aaron Judge appeared to regain some form on Tuesday night. The New York Yankees captain drove in the team's final run, helping them avoid a sweep with an 11-4 at Yankee Stadium. This was the slugger's first-ever World Series RBI. However, fans were still skeptical that he had fully broken out of his slump.

Aaron Judge hit his RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning with his team leading 10-4. It was a long-drawn inning off Dodgers reliever Brent Honeywell, who had already allowed four runs to Alex Verdugo and Gleyber Torres. A fatigued Honeywell then gave up a double to Juan Soto. When Judge came to the plate, he connected with a slider on a 1-1 count to drive in Soto.

This was the fourth time in the game that the former AL MVP reached base. Earlier, he had drawn a walk, been hit by a pitch and reached first on an error. Despite the single, Judge's postseason average in 2024 remained at .152. This was also his first RBI since Game 3 of the NLCS against the Cleveland Guardians when he had hit a home run.

Fans on X (formerly Twitter) weren't convinced with his performance, as they felt his single came at a juncture when it wasn't crucial and against a tiring reliever.

"Garbage time Judge strikes again!" a fan wrote.
"When they don’t actually need it," another fan commented.
"Mistah low leverage," another said.

More fans quipped about Judge's performance.

"When they needed him the least he stepped up," another fan wrote.
"So Judge finally remembered how to hit the ball," another commented.
"Wow, he did something when the other team give up the game," another said.

Aaron Judge acknowledges no change in Yankees' mindset

After going down 0-3 on Monday, Aaron Judge had said the Yankees would not back down from a fight. They showed that spirit on Tuesday. In the post-game interview, the captain reinforced that belief as they aimed to force a Game 6.

"We're just focused on one game. Just because our backs are against the wall really hasn't changed our mindset, especially with this group who's been through a lot. We're just gonna keep doing that," Judge said.

The Yankees will have their ace Gerrit Cole on the mound in a repeat matchup of the World Series opener against Dodgers pitcher Jack Flaherty. LA will be looking to seal the deal with a win for their eighth franchise title.
