"Garrett Crochet for Boston or Baltimore" - MLB insider debates trade scenarios involving Red Sox and Orioles prospects

Chicago White Sox pitcher Garrett Crochet has been a name that has been popping up this offseason. He is somebody the team is thinking about trading as they continue with their rebuild.

Crochet is a great young arm that a team can build around. He recently converted to a starter and did well. Across 32 starts, he compiled a 6-12 record with a 3.58 ERA on 146 innings of work.

During a recent airing of Foul Territory, host Scott Braun spoke on where he sees Crochet ending up if a trade were to happen. He points to either the Boston Red Sox or the Baltimore Orioles.

"I've been strong on this. Garrett Crochet for the Red Sox or the Orioles. I think both Boston or Baltimore are really good fits based on the prospects they have," said Braun.

Braun believes either team would make a great fit for the flamethrowing lefty. Both teams are rich in prospects, something the White Sox could desperately use right now.

"But to me, it has to be a Marcello Mayer, possibly a Kyle Teel, Wilyer Abreu, and then one other prospect for Garrett Crochet," said Erik Kratz

Kratz goes on to speculate on what Boston could offer that would entice the White Sox to close a deal. He believes they would have to give up a handful of high-quality prospects.

Baltimore and Boston are not the only ones that have some interest in Garrett Crochet. Multiple other teams have started building plans for how they can acquire the hard-throwing lefty ahead of the 2025 season.

One team that has made their interest clear is the Chicago Cubs. While they are the crosstown rivals of the White Sox, the two teams have made trades in the past.

The Cubbies could use another starting pitcher to help bolster their pitching staff. Crochet would fit in nicely alongside Shota Imanaga and Jameson Taillon.

Another team that has shown interest is the Cincinnati Reds. They could also use another starting pitcher this winter to help them compete in the National League Central.

As MLB Winter Meetings are set for next week, this is a player fans will want to keep their eye on. He could be playing elsewhere by this time next week.
