Gerrit Cole and his wife, Amy Cole, are parents to two sons. Their first child Caden was born on June 30, 2020, while their second child Everett was born on Jan. 2, 2023. The close-knit family celebrated the birthday of their younger son, a couple of days back, in the offseason.
On Sunday, Amy posted a photo of Everett blowing out candles on a colorful birthday cake, while his mother, lovingly held his hand and smiled. The cake is decorated with bright green, red and blue accents, with the message "Happy 2nd Birthday" written on it. The caption on the image reads: "Celebrating our sweet Evie's 2nd bday ❤️."
The offseason follows a World Series campaign for Gerrit Cole's New York Yankees. The team won the AL pennant after 15 years but were a shadow of themselves when they took on the LA Dodgers in the Fall Classic. The best-of-seven series ended in five games, with the Dodgers winning their eighth World Series.
Gerrit Cole heaps praise on son's emotional intelligence
Gerrit Cole's older son Caden is over four years old and has often been spotted attending games, playing with his dad at Yankee Stadium in pregame activities and even capturing the attention of the camera.
During an interview with MLB.com in July, Cole talked about Caden visiting the team locker room and how respectful he is of everyone around him.
"He seems to be able to get along with kids younger and older than him. When he comes into the locker room, he is respectful of the guys. … It makes him comfortable dealing with a lot of things" Cole said.
"My mom has told me he is more emotionally intelligent than I was at that age. He is wonderful to travel with. He is very helpful to his mom with the little bro. Those are probably the most impressive qualities."
Meanwhile, during the 2024 World Series, both his sons, were in the stands and celebrated their dad and the Yankees by donning pinstriped jerseys.
