The New York Yankees have received some positive news when it comes to the health of star Giancarlo Stanton. The five-time All-Star has been sidelined since June 23 after suffering a left hamstring strain, which wound up with him being placed on the 10-day IL.
Giancarlo Stanton has taken a major step forward toward returning to the lineup. The former National League MVP was seen running the bases at Yankee Stadium. Given the fact that Stanton has been sidelined with a hamstring injury, seeing him running the base is a major injury update for the hard-hitting outfielder.

It remains to be seen how soon it will be before Stanton returns to the lineup, however, this is a major step in the right direction. According to New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone, the team remains undecided on whether or not the superstar will require a rehab assignment.
The former MVP had appeared in 69 games for the Yankees this season before sustaining the hamstring injury. Given the slugger's injury history, the team will likely proceed with caution. Coming into the year, Giancarlo Stanton lost a considerable amount of weight in the hopes of staying healthy, however, he still was unable to avoid the IL.
Yankees need Giancarlo Stanton to return to the lineup as soon as possible
Even though the New York Yankees have been enjoying strong seasons from the likes of Aaron Judge and Juan Soto, the rest of the roster has left something to be desired. The struggles of veterans such as Gleyber Torres and DJ LeMahieu have highlighted some of the team's issues outside of their two MVP candidates.
Prior to his hamstring injury, Stanton was an important presence in the New York Yankees' lineup, providing the team with a home run threat behind Juan Soto and Aaron Judge. Stanton has enjoyed a bounceback season after a dreadful 2023 campaign which saw him post a career-low .191 batting average.

Aaron Boone has said that Stanton has been able to resume participating in full baseball activities, which could be a sign that the star could soon return to the lineup. If Stanton can return to the lineup before the end of July, it could impact the team's plans heading into the MLB Trade Deadline.
