The Boston Red Sox are making a change to their City Connect jerseys for the 2025 season. The bright yellow ones will be replaced, as the latest reports revealed that the franchise will go with green to represent the team. The tinge of green is expected to be similar to the fences of Fenway Park and the "Monster," as the wall in the right field is called.

The team announced last year, that it would be making changes to its uniform. The yellow City Connect jerseys will not be scratched completely but will be replaced by the blue road alternate jerseys. As per the MLB and Nike, teams can only use five uniforms, including the City Connect jerseys.

The team uses white with the alternate reds at home. It used the grey jerseys as its regular road attire with the blues as the alternates, which will not be replaced by the yellow jerseys.

Fans took to X and reacted to the news of the new green City Connect jerseys.

Red Sox have history with green uniforms

The new City Connect jerseys will not be the first time the Red Sox will be donning green uniforms. In 2007, the team wore custom green jerseys in honor of late Boston Celtics coach and executive Red Auerbach.

The team also wore green jerseys to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. The festival has a special place in the City of Boston due to its history with Irish settlers. However, in 2023, the team discontinued the uniform as the 4+1 uniform rule was mandated by Nike and the league.

The yellow City Connect Jerseys have been used since the 2021 season. They have been popular among the fans as the players brought relative success to the team when they wore it. Overall, they had a 35-13 record, which is only going to get better as road alternates. The Red Sox would hope that their new green City Connect jerseys bring similar results.
