Detroit Tigers star Gleyber Torres will start a new life during the 2025 season after he has spent his entire Major League Baseball career with the New York Yankees.
Torres is a native of Venezuela and spends much of the offseason back home with his wife and son. He married his wife Elizabeth in 2017, and the couple welcomed a son Ethan on March 20, 2022.
Torres is currently at home and shared an adorable photo of a moment with his son on Monday.
The photo showed young Ethan Torres wearing a cream-colored outfit that featured the popular cartoon character "Snoopy."
Gleyber has been able to enjoy moments with his young son and wife throughout his career with the Yankees. But things are going to look different now, as he'll be starting at second base for the Tigers in the AL Central.
Gleyber Torres Didn't Have Option to Rejoin Yankees
All Gleyber Torres has known in the MLB is playing for the New York Yankees, but his contract ended after the 2024 World Series. Torres was willing to return to the Yankees on a new deal but that opportunity never presented itself.
When asked about any discussions he had with the Yankees, Torres responded by saying,
"No, not really. We did not have many conversations, just my agent and their group passed information back and forth a few times, but I didn't really have any offer from them."
Gleyber Torres decided to reach out to other teams to find a place where he was wanted, and the Detroit Tigers seemed like a fit. They made a stunning run in the 2024 postseason and are looking for Torres to provide more stability moving forward.
