Gleyber Torres is enjoying his last few weeks before he heads up camp. The slugger is coming off a season with the New York Yankees where he started 154 games, hitting .257/.330/.378 with 15 home runs and 63 runs batted in.
During the offseason, he has spent time with his wife, Elizabeth, and their child, Ethan. Torres recently posted a picture of Ethan embracing the colder weather with a casual outfit.
Hopefully, Ethan is used to the colder weather. His father's newest team, the Detroit Tigers, are not known for their tropical temperatures.
Gleyber Torres will be without the New York Yankees pinstripes for the first time in his big-league career
In 2013, Gleyber Torres signed a deal with the Chicago Cubs as an international free agent. He would play the next few years in the minors before he was traded to the New York Yankees.
Torres was part of the trade that sent Aroldis Chapman to Chicago. after another couple of years in the minors, Torres would make his MLB debut on April 22, 2018.
After making his debut, Torres would never look back. He quickly showed why he was considered a top prospect, being named American League Rookie of the Month for May.
In his rookie year, Torres would finish third in the AL Rookie of the Year voting. Unfortunately, he was in the same class as the two-way phenom himself, Shohei Ohtani who went on to win the award.
For the last seven seasons, Torres was a mainstay in the Bronx Bombers' lineup. Now, he will head into his first season unable to rock the iconic Yankees' pinstripes. He will now do his best to help the Detroit Tigers continue to make noise in the AL Central.
