"God has given you heart & humility of gold" - Salvador Perez’s wife Maria Gabriela honors Royals catcher’s Roberto Clemente Award win

Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez won the 2024 Roberto Clemente Award, presented by Capital One.

The award, which is given to the MLB players for their charitable endeavors, was named after Roberto Clemente. He was a 15x All-Star who died in a plane crash while attempting to provide relief to earthquake victims in Nicaragua on 1972 New Year's Eve.

Perez's victory has certainly made Maria Gabriela, his wife, happy and proud. Via her Instagram story, she honored her husband with a heartfelt tribute.

"Congratulations my love @salvadorp13 thank God he has given you a heart and humility of gold helping for you is part of your everyday life, it's simply what makes you happy. I love you and we are very proud of you!!" - Gabriela's IG story caption translated from Spanish.

Perez's victory was indeed a foregone conclusion. The 2015 World Series MVP donates food supplies to 2,000 Venezuelan homes each winter.

Perez also supports charitable endeavors in Columbia. During the COVID-19 lockdown, the 9x All-Star crossed the Columbian border on foot to care for the families who depended on him.

Perez also supports the police and children of officers who died on active duty. Moreover, he is also engaged in the fighting against ALS, and helping children with Cancer.

Furthermore, he even has a children's baseball league in Valencia, where he provides the kids with essential sporting equipment at the beginning of each season.

Perez married Gabriela in October 2019. With Gabriela, Perez has three children – two boys and a girl. Yesterday marked the fifth year of the couple's life as husband and wife. To commemorate the achievement, Gabriela set up a cozy decor.

The decor included warm, illuminated letters spelling out "HAPPY ANNIVERSARY," along with red heart balloons, fairy lights and photos hanging on the wall.

Rose petals were also scattered, spelling out a message on the couch, creating a cozy romantic ambiance. Perez thanked his wife via his Instagram story.

On another note, Perez's Royals put together a strong season, advancing to the ALDS. In the 2024 regular season, Perez posted 27 home runs and 104 RBIs, marking his second-best season after his standout 2021 campaign, when he slugged 48 homers and drove in 121 runs.

The highlight of the Royals' campaign was Salvador Perez's teammate Bobby Witt Jr. The shortstop won the AL batting title over Aaron Judge. Though he faltered in the postseason, Witt Jr. had shown his potential in the regular season. With Witt Jr., Perez has a chance to win a World Series for a second time.
