On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Dodgers signed Nick Ahmed after the San Francisco Giants released him following a tough spell. With the Giants, he batted .232 with one home run and 15 RBIs in over 52 games.

Ahmed made his return to the season by facing his former team. In Thursday’s game against the Giants, he recorded two hits in four at-bats, bringing in one RBI in the Dodgers' 6-4 victory at Dodger Stadium. The win also gave the Dodgers' a 3-1 win in the four-game series.

Talking about his performance after the game, Ahmed said:

“It’s a lot of fun. Thats what I’m here to do. I’m here to play. Play my game, help us win games. I love that, we are a winning team here and going to play for championship hopefully in a couple of months here. So just doing my job, just going out and playing defense and trying to complete at the plate.”

The Dodgers opened the scoring in the second inning on Enrique Hernandez’s RBI single. Hernandez then hit a double in the fourth inning followed by Austin Barnes’ RBI single to bring in two more runs for the team.

In the fifth inning, Jason Heyward grounded into a double play, allowing Andy Pages to score. The Giants later tied the score, but Nick Ahmed's go-ahead solo homer regained the lead for the Dodgers.

Shohei Ohtani’s 360-foot homer – his 31st of the season – in the eighth inning set the final score of the game.

Nick Ahmed opens up on bounce-back performance after struggles with Giants

In the Dodgers' 8-3 loss to the San Francisco Giants earlier, Ahmed recorded one hit in three at-bats, bringing in one run for the team. Discussing his bounce back from his time with the Giants, Ahmed said:

(from 0:45 mark onwards)

“Honestly right before the Giants let me go, I feel like I was in a good spot. You know, came back from an injury and didn’t play great right away, but made some adjustments right away. The day before I actually got let go and kind of carried the end of two weeks, I was down.
“So feels like the swing is in a good spot. I always kind of hit a mid season stride, I feel like. And Summer is usually my best month. So excited to just keep rolling with that and keeping things simple at the plate,” he added.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will begin their next road trip, a three-game series with the Houston Astros, at Minute Maid Park on Friday.
