On Friday, MLB fans witnessed one of the best NLCS games as the Los Angeles Dodgers took on the New York Mets in Game 5 at Citi Field. The Mets were on the brink of elimination after trailing 3-1 in the series. The Dodgers, on the other hand, were just one win away from the World Series.

The Mets got an early lead to the game while the Dodgers pitching squad struggled. Andy Pages smashed a solo home run at the top of the fourth inning. Pages flipped his bat after his solo home run despite the Dodgers trailing. Francisco Alvarez seemed unhappy about Pages' backflip as both players appeared to exchange words.

While Pages never took it seriously and walked back to the dugout, MLB fans took to social media to call out Pages for his moment with Alvarez.

Here's a look at some reactions from fans on X/Twitter:

"Good you shouldn't be bat flipping while being down 6 runs show some class," wrote one fan.
"He should take a Page out of Alvarez’s book and try being classy sometime," another fan responded.
"I mean he bat flipped down 7. That’s INSANE," another fan chipped in.

Comments continued to flow as fans were not so pleased with Pages' bat flip:

"Only douchebags bat flip when their team is getting their asses kicked!" one fan responded.
"It would have been awesome if Nimmo robbed it after he did that on a ball that barely got out," another fan wrote.
"A bay flip when you’re getting mopped up not a good move!!! Dodgers closing it next game," wrote another MLB fan.

Mets' 2024 MLB World Series dream stays alive

The Mets kept their World Series dream alive after scoring 12 runs against the Dodgers on Friday. The win cut the Dodgers' lead down to 3-2 in the series. The Mets will travel to Dodger Stadium next to play Game 6 (and Game 7 if necessary).

The Dodgers must win one of their two remaining games at home to book their spot while the Mets must win both to pull off an incredible NLCS comeback. The Mets will reportedly turn in Sean Manaea to the mound as their starter in Game 6.

Can the Mets tie the series with a win over the Dodgers in Game 6 on Sunday? Or will Ohtani and Co. hold on to fight for a championship? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
