Jazz Chisholm Jr. made his New York Yankees debut on Sunday against the Boston Red Sox. It was a happy outing for the center fielder as he got his maiden hit and the Yankees prevailed 8-2 to take the series at Fenway Park.

However, some analysts questioned the newcomer's attire which appeared a bit casual for such a big occasion. On his debut for one of the biggest clubs in the world, Chisholm wore his cap backward and sported a striking green belt.

Current media personality and former 3B Trevor Plouffe called him out on the JM Baseball YouTube channel.

"It was shocking to see that. First appearance in a Yankees uniform, hat backwards, green belt. I have never seen [it]... When is the last time you've seen a Yankees player wear their hat backwards?"

Chisholm Jr. was traded to the Yankees after the Miami Marlins continued their fire sale. The 26-year-old batted at .249 with 96 hits that included 50 RBIs for the club this season.

His addition to the lineup was an attempt by Aaron Boone to incorporate an effective leadoff hitter who could reach base with Aaron Judge and Juan Soto behind him.

Chisholm has had experience in the diamond and New York will be tempted to play him as an infielder when necessary.

For Sunday's game, he slotted into his usual center fielder position, giving much-needed rest to Judge in the outfield. However, more than his game, it seemed like Chisholm's attire caught the attention of fans and analysts.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. to learn to play third base after trade

The Yankees have been short-staffed in the infield all season long. With Jazz Chisholm Jr., they have a versatile player in the diamond, a natural shortstop who has had experience in second base. In fact, he has also played third base in the minor leagues.

That is exactly where Aaron Boone would like him to slot in as per the current batting lineup. With Gleyber Torres hitting well in recent games, there is a reluctance to change him to 2B. Therefore, Chisholm Jr. could start learning the tricks of playing at 3B, possibly looking to assist Oswaldo Cabrera's workload.
